Mongolian Architect's 6-Year Work: 0.8 kW/h Solution to Heat at −40°C Becomes Reality

OwnHouse platform is publicly presenting new performance figures for the energy-efficient single-family home heating system developed since 2019. Six years of testing and calculation reduced heating consumption from 4.2 kWh per hour to 0.8 kWh.

Why This Number Is Critical
0.8 kWh is the practical threshold for off-grid operation. Mongolia's average solar irradiation provides 4–5 peak hours daily. A 4 kW solar installation produces 12–16 kWh per day — combined with battery storage, this realistically balances heating demand. Systems above this threshold require adding a generator or grid connection.

Complete Infrastructure Solution
